New Delhi: India reports 13,788 fresh cases of coronavirus which pushed the total tally to 1,05,71,773 in the nation. The active cases now stand at 2,08,012. With 14,457 new recoveries, as far as 1,02,11,342 patients recovered, and with 145 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 1,52,419, as per Union Health Ministry.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 18,70,93,036 samples were tested for COVID-19, up to 17 January of which 5,48,168 samples were tested yesterday.

As per Union Health and Welfare Ministry, the infection (Active) rate is 1.97 percent, the recovery rate has reached 96.59 percent and the death rate is 1.44 percent.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has informed that a total of 17,072 beneficiaries were vaccinated in 6 States on Day- two in the nation.

Making it the biggest vaccination drive in the world, India also has vaccinated the highest number of persons on Day1 under its COVID-19 vaccination program. This is much higher than many other countries such as the USA, the UK, and France, informed the Health Ministry.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan also took to Twitter and wrote, “One More Record !#CoronaVirusUpdates. #COVID19vaccination to more than 2.24 L Persons till now. India vaccinates the highest number of persons on DAY1 of the nationwide #vaccination drive; ahead of many other countries. 17,072 beneficiaries vaccinated in 6 States on DAY2.”
