New Delhi: India reports 15,590 fresh cases of coronavirus which pushed the total tally to 1,05,27,683 in the nation. The active cases now stand at 2,13,027. With 15,975 new recoveries, as far as 1,01,62,738 patients recovered, and with 191 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 1,51,918, as per Union Health Ministry.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the total number of samples tested up to 14 January is 18,49,62, 401 including 7,30,096 samples tested yesterday.

As per Union Health and Welfare Ministry, the infection (Active) rate is 2.02 percent, the recovery rate has reached 96.53 percent and the death rate is 1.44 percent.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has said that the total number of persons found infected with the mutant United Kingdom (UK) strain of COVID-19 is 109.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rajiv Dixit, District Nodal Officer for COVID-19 told ANI that a 44-year-old person, who came in contact with a UK returnee, has tested positive for the new strain of coronavirus in Dehradun.

Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to launch the pan India rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination drive virtually on 16th January at 10:30 AM. This will be the world’s largest vaccination program covering the entire length and breadth of the country.

As per the Prime Minister Office, a total of 3006 session sites across all States and UTs will be virtually connected during the launch. Around 100 beneficiaries will be vaccinated at each session site on an inaugural day.

This vaccination program is based on the principles of priority groups to be vaccinated and Health Care workers, both in government and private sectors including ICDS workers, will receive the vaccine during this phase.
