Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials of the Noida International Airport Limited and the Gautam Budh Nagar administration to speed-up the work on the airport.

UP government had issued a notification for the acquisition of land for the greenfield project in the district under Section 11 (1) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 on October 30. The Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), formed by the government to develop the airport, will invite bids for the project.

This airport will be the second in the NCR after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Some landowners, including farmers, had initially resisted the land acquisition citing various reasons such as an “inadequate” compensation amount and related benefits, besides the resettlement policy.
