The Maharashtra government has signed a MoU with a commercial pilot to open an aircraft-manufacturing hub. The deal signed is worth 35,000 crore rupees. The MoU was signed at the ‘Magnetic Maharashtra’ global investors’ summit in Mumbai.

This MoU was signed between Amol Yadav and the Maharashtra government in the presence of the chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis. The deal will lead to the generation of over 10,000 jobs. The area given for this project will be spread over 157 acres in the Palghar district. Amol Yadav in 2011, manufactured a six-seater aircraft on his terrace in Kandivali. He had a dream of starting an aircraft manufacturing company. But now his dreams have come true with his company ‘Thrust Aircraft Pvt. Ltd.’

According to the MoU, he will receive the government’s infrastructural and financial support. The manufacturing centre will be set up in Dahanu. At the centre, he will work on developing 6-seater and 19-seater aircrafts. This will be the first Indian aircraft-making company. Yadav said that the area will be turned into an aerospace hub used to make planes. This 35,000 crore investment will include all the ancillaries included with the hub.

The government said they will help raise the investment for Yadav’s company. The plan Yadav said was to make 600 19-seater aircrafts in the next 2-3 years and then make 1300 planes. His six-seater aircraft received much adulation in the 2016 Make In India Summit. He got the certification to assemble the aircraft from The Directorate General of Civil Aviation(DGCA) in 2017. He also said that Pratt &  Whitney will be supplying the engines and that he fully owns the company.

Amol Yadav’s story is not only inspiring but encouraging. It proves that dreams truly begin at home. Certain experts do say that the decision of signing the MoU by the government might have been taken in haste that they didn’t consider the logistics and the return on investment. But by investing in Amol Yadav, the government has taken a leap of faith. The matter of its success still remains open to questions.
