Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced the launch of ‘Modicare’, a health insurance scheme that will benefit 10 cr families. A sum of ₹5 lakh insurance would be provided under this scheme. It will be introduced in September this year with a vision to cover the underprivileged who cannot afford expensive health insurance schemes.

‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyaan will be launched on 25th September this year. It is high time we ensure that the poor of India get access to good quality and affordable healthcare. The healthcare initiatives of the Government of India will have a positive impact on 50 crore Indians,’ PM Modi stated on Independence Day.

This will be ‘technology-driven’, he emphasized.

By 2022, India will undertake a manned space mission on board ‘Gaganyaan’. India will be the forth nation to do so, after America, Russia and China. ‘When India celebrates 75th year of Independence in 2022 and if possible even before, an Indian son or daughter will undertake a manned space mission on board ‘Gaganyaan’ carrying the national flag’, Modi assured.

For Women

PM Modi reminded the nation about speedy trails in Madhya Pradesh last year that punished rapists with death penalty within 5 days of court room trail. He highlighted the same in Rajastan too. Awareness about such verdicts throughout the country is a must, he stated in a matter-of-fact tone.

PM Modi expressed concern over ‘triple talak’ and how it cripples Muslim women. He ensured to work towards their justice.

PM Modi announced that women officers of Short Service Commission in the Indian Armed forces will be eligible for Permanent Commission through a transparent recruitment process.

On economy

Few years back, India was listed under the ‘fragile 5 nations’ however India now attracts multi trillion dollar investment, Modi informed. India is now an ‘ease of doing business with’ nation from ‘red tap-ism’ in the past.

About 3 lakh shell companies have been closed. The government also weeded out dubious beneficiaries due to which ₹90,000 cr came back to the treasury. Close to ₹13 cr MUDRA loans have been handed out, out of which ₹4 cr was given out to new entrants.

WHO reports

As per the WHO reports, approximately 3 lakh kids escaped death because of Modi’s ‘swatch bharat’ abhiyan. As per international reports, close to 5 cr people came out of poverty in 2 years.

BJP tenure

Modi highlighted on the BJP government‘s tenure in his speech. This was inclusive of 2016 surgical strike, GST roll out and the hefty tax collected, about the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), on the AFSPA status in North-East, about the surge in tractor sales, on the getting the North East visibility and on the basic amenities that reached the Common Man at a faster pace when compared to the UPA regime.

Jammu and Kashmir will exercise Panchayat polls very soon, he asserted. He shared grief with the flood victims in Kerala in his opening note.
