On his Jharkhand visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana today. The scheme is aimed to provide a cover of social security to small and marginal farmers in their old age.

Under the scheme, farmers lying in the age bracket of 18 -40 years can make voluntary contributions. Government of India will also contribute an equal sum to it. The scheme guarantees a minimum of Rs 3,000 monthly pension after the age of 60.

CSC (Common Service Centers), A special purpose vehicle under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, has been entrusted with the responsibility of enrolling the subscribers. The CSCs are expected to work in coordination with the . Over 2 lakh CSCs exist in the country. Village-level entrepreneurs run these CSCs.

It is also expected that the prime minister will launch the Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyaparik Mandhan Yojana and Swarojgar pension schemes in the state. Beneficiaries between 18 and 40 years will get Rs 3,000 per month after 60 years of age.

According to Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Narendra Modi has also inaugurated the new building of the Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi.

A multi-modal terminal will also be inaugurated at Sahibganj, Jharkhand. The terminal was built by Inland Waterways Authority of India on River Ganga. It has a cargo storing capacity of 30 tonnes per year, a stockyard and parking and berthing space for two vessels.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister also announced to launch 462 Eklavaya Model schools for tribal students.
