Airing his views public for the first time on the recently passed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav announced his party’s stand to oppose the bill.

Speaking to the media persons on Tuesday, he said that the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has betrayed the population of Bihar. Tejashwi Yadav said that by supporting the Bill, Nitish Kumar has acted against the interests of the Bihar.

As quoted by ANI, he said, “We will strongly oppose the bill. It is a bill that will divide the country. We will fight against it. Nitish Kumar has again betrayed the people of Bihar by supporting the bill. Nitish Kumar is afraid of BJP and RSS.

Tejashwi Yadav also shared a tweeted message regarding his protest against the CAB bill.

Speaking from Janata Dal-United on Tuesday, party leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh had extended his party’s support to the bill. He said that the bill is right in its approach as it is dedicated to granting citizenship status to the persecuted minorities of Pakistan.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 has been passed with a majority of 311 votes against 80 in the Lok Sabha out of a total of 391 members who were present and voted. Now, the Bill is slated to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha at 2 pm on Wednesday.

Reacting on the CAB issue, Congress party has also told all of its state units to demonstrate ‘Dharna Pardarshan‘ on December 11 across the nation.
