BJP party President Amit Shah, while addressing at the Gujarat Gaurav Mahasabha at Bhat, Gandhinagar on Monday set a target of 150-plus seats in the 182-member assembly for the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections.

The term of the incumbent ruling BJP under the leadership of Vijay Rupani will end in Jan 2018. As per the announcement of the election commission, though the final dates are yet not decided, but the polls will be held before 18 Dec this year.

Both BJP and Congress are fighting hard to lure as many voters as possible and win the polls. BJP headed by Amit Shah began its election campaign on 1 Oct by launching the Gujarat Gaurav Yatra, which concluded on 16 Dec and a grand rally or the Mahasabha was organised for it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, lashed out the opposition party while addressing the gathering.

Amit Shah also during his speech made it clear that the party was seeking votes in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to continue ruling in the state and set a target of 150-plus seats in the 182-member assembly. He said that when Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, BJP had won 127 seats, now that he is the Prime Minister the party is hoping to win the polls at least by a three-fourths majority.

Shah also taking a jibe at the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, who has also started the four-phase Nav Srijan Yatra in Gujarat said that he has failed on the grounds of development in Amethi how can he question BJP in Gujarat. He further added that Rahul could not do anything for the development of his own constituency in Uttar Pradesh and he was questioning how the BJP has been developing Gujarat.

BJP Party President took a jibe at the Congress leader said that Rahul Gandhi has not been able to build even a collectorate office in Amethi. He further claimed that the anti-development Congress will be thrown out of Gujarat in the upcoming polls.

During his address, Shah also brought up Prime Minister’s bullet train project which received a lot of criticism. He said that “They are mocking the bullet train but Gujarat’s people love development. Modi’s Gujarat model has defined development.”
