Gearing up for the upcoming state assembly polls in Jharkhand, Bharatiya Janata Party announced its first list of 52 candidates on Sunday. The state is currently under the rule of CM Raghubar Das. The state will go to polls for 81 assembly seats. Polls will be conducted in five phases.

The tenure for 81-member Jharkhand Assembly is ending on 5 January. Forthcoming elections will be the fourth Assembly polls in the state ever since the state was formed in 2000.

According to the list, Raghubar Das will fight from Jamshedpur East seat and BJP president for Jharkhand unit Laxman Giluwa will contest from Chakradharpur.

Addressing the media, BJP’s working president Jagat Prakash Nadda said, “Five years back, Jharkhand was known for corruption and instability. Today, under the leadership of Raghubar Das, Jharkhand is known for its stability and development. Corruption has been brought down and the state is moving towards development.”

Jharkhand Election Schedule-

  • Phase-1: Polls on 30 November
  • Phase 2: Polls on 7 December
  • Phase 3: Polls on 12 December
  • Phase 4: Polls on 16 December
  • Phase 5: Polls on 20 December

Counting of votes will take place on 23rd December. The Model Code of Conduct has come into the force since the moment the Election Commission has announced the dates. According to CEC Sunil Arora, a total of 2.26 crore electors exists in the state which includes 1.18 crore male and 1.08 crore female.
