BJP has lodged a complaint against Rahul Gandhi for canvassing for votes in Wayanad through his Twitter handle even after the time limit of electioneering had exceeded in the state.

BJP filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi stating that he had gone against the poll conduct by taking to twitter to conduct the electioneering in Wayanad after campaign timings. The complaint was filed by BJP candidate Thushar Vellapally’s Chief Election Agent and NDA’s media coordinator, Sinil Kumar G. It was filed with the print out of the tweet by Rahul Gandhi on Twitter.

His tweet read, “Across India, millions of youngsters are stepping out to vote, many of them for the first time. In their hands lie the future of India. I am sure that they want NYAY for every Indian and will vote wisely”.

The letter by Sinil said Rahul Gandhi took to his campaigning through Twitter even after the time limit had exceeded for electioneering by 5 pm on April 21.

“Rahul Gandhi who is a candidate in Wayanad is seen to be carrying out open campaign to garner votes in his favour even while the polling is going on,” Sinil Kumar mentioned in the complaint.

“I have filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi stating that he has violated the code of conduct of this constituency. As you are aware that the election campaigning ended at 5 pm on April 21. But he has tweeted today morning stating that want NYAY for every Indian. But it is a clear cut violation of the code of conduct. that is why I have filed this complaint before the Election Commission. Appropriate action may be taken against as soon as possible,” said Sinil Kumar in his statement to ANI.

The Congress had also accused PM Modi of violating poll code repeatedly. The Congress accused the prime minister of holding a roadshow right after casting his vote in Ahmedabad which goes against the model code of conduct. Election Commission had sought answers from Gujarat Chief Election Officer after the complaint was filed. Gujarat’s chief electoral officer S Murali Krishna told media that the district election officer of Ahmedabad has been asked to conduct an enquiry into the same.
