Narendra Modi

Narendra Modi while inaugurating a state-of-the-art stadium in Maninagar on Friday said that, sports should be given importance and that it should be appreciated and supported across the country.

Following the successful campaign of Khel Mahakumbh in Gujarat launched by Modi when he was the Chief Minister of the state, he announces to launch the same campaign across India now. Gujarat has been celebrating the event since 2010, to promote and support sports activity across the state. According to Modi, the initiative of Khel Mahakumbh has encouraged many youths to participate in sports and has further expanded the sports culture in Gujarat. After the success of the campaign in the state, Modi advises carrying forward the launch throughout India to encourage and boost the confidence of the sports players.

Modi is on a two-day trip to his home state of Gujarat. He visited Modasa in Aravalli district in North Gujarat and inaugurated a Rs 552-crore water supply scheme for the farmers. This scheme will draw water from Narmada project and will benefit over 600 villages across the region. Indirectly pointing to the opposition, Modi said that the former Government of Gujarat was only digging the ground mocking to help the farmers, but the present government not only gave results but also found permanent solutions for them.

“We have ensured that farmers across Gujarat get water through our various irrigation schemes”, Modi said while addressing the public after the inauguration.

Modi also boasted about the various schemes introduced by the government and how the farmers were benefiting from these schemes. He spoke about the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, which ensured maximum protection with minimum premium.
