The Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh are due later this year. The current and the longest serving Chief Minister of the state Virbhadra Singh on Sunday said that this will be contesting the Assembly polls for the last time this year.

He has served as Chief Minister since 2012 and previously he was the CM of Himachal Pradesh from 1983 to 1990, 1993 to 1998 and from 2003 to 2007. Virbhadra is confident about the victory of Congress in the upcoming polls and said that this will be his last elections.

He pointed out that the leaders who are trying to break the unity of the party are very small leaders and they will be reached and taken care of soon. The prevailing problems in the party will soon be over and added that Congress is all set for the polls and is ready to come back in the state.

Taking about creating new districts in the state, Virbhadra rejected the idea saying that “the government has created a number of new sub- divisions, blocks, tehsils and sub-tehsils to help people get their administrative works done. So, the creation of districts is not required.”
