Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, while addressing the Gujarat Gaurav Mahasammelan in Gandhinagar, lashed out at the Congress party saying that they have always hated Gujarat and have always been an obstacle in the development of the state.

Gujarat will be hosting the assembly elections before 18 Dec this year and both the BJP and Congress are on their toes to get the throne. BJP has been ruling the state for 22 years, but the prevailing situations are predicting that BJP is losing ground in the state and this, is making the party nervous.

BJP under the leadership of Party President Amit Shah kick-started the election campaign in the poll-bound state on 1 Oct by launching the 15-day long Gujarat Gaurav Yatra. On Monday on the concluding day of the Yatra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the huge gathering. Throughout his speech, he accused Congress party to be a party filled with corrupt leaders and said that for them the election in Gujarat is the politics of dynasty but for BJP it is that politics of development.

Responding to the comments made by Narendra Modi, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, gently but aptly replied that, “We have nothing but love for your state.”

A day after the enraged remarks made by Modi, Tharoor tweeted that “My son has just married a Gujarati, @narendramodi ji. We have nothing but love for your state & its people.”

Shashi Tharoor’s son Ishaan Tharoor, a journalist with Washington Post, got married to Bhumika a Gujarati girl on Sunday.
