With six phases of Lok Sabha elections coming to an end, the country’s eyes are fixed on Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is contesting Lok Sabha elections and will go to polls in the seventh and last phase on May 19.

In a bid to ensure Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) victory in the constituency, BJP Chief Amit Shah at already started campaigning in Varanasi. on Sunday night he had a meeting with party leaders and reviewed the plan for the polling day. He asked party workers to complete the door to door campaign by the last day for campaigning for the last phase of elections on May 17.

He told the party workers that “one worker is expected to meet 10 families in his or her area and local MLAs will be involved in the process.”

On Sunday morning, Amit Shah left Varanasi and returned in the afternoon. He addressed a meeting of the party workers at the BJP Central Election office in Mehmoorganj locality at 6:00 pm.

Leaving behind all political rallies, BJP general Secretary Muralidhar Rao addresses the parties youth wing while the Uttar Pradesh deputy Chief Minister KP Maurya held a public meeting at Dhelwaria in Varanasi assembly seat.

Railway minister and BJP leader Piyush Goyal also address public meetings in the City. Sushma Swaraj, Union Minister for foreign affairs will address ‘Nukad Sabha’ at Chowka Ghat on May 15 ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in Varanasi.

When BJP will be striving for PM Narendra Modi’s win, the opposition will take its chances and prepare for a roadshow in Varanasi. Congress will hold the roadshow of AICC general Secretary Priyanka Gandhi. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati and Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav will hold a joint rally in BSP-SP alliance.

Congress has fielded Ajay Rai and Samajwadi Party has fielded Shalini Yadav from Varanasi.

Varanasi will go to polls on May 19 in the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections. 25 candidates are in the fray from the constituency against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
