New Delhi: Amid farmer’s protest, approximately 32 farmer union leaders are going to meet today and they will decide on further talks with the Union government.

The Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Sunday wrote a letter to the leaders and requested them to fix a date as per their convenience for the next round of talks. However, the leaders have already met on Tuesday but the final date will be decided today.

The farmers have decided to intensify the protests on the day of Kisan Diwas 2020, which is observed on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. They have decided to skip lunch on the same day.
Meanwhile, the Congress party is also going to hold a statewide protest in Uttar Pradesh.

We will observe December 23 as “Skip Lunch” day to extend our support of farmers, said All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and its associate unions.

Meanwhile, Narendra Singh Tomar, the Union Agriculture met a few farmers’ groups from Delhi and Haryana on Tuesday who are in favour of new farm laws.

Also, farmers protesting at UP Gate on the Delhi-Ghaziabad border on Tuesday blocked all 14 lanes of the National Highway 9 for eight hours. The farmers have decided to stop the toll. Collection in Haryana from December 25 to 27.

The protesting farmers are fortifying their presence on social media platforms. A social media cell of the farmer’s group has been set up, headed by Baljeet Singh Sandhu, Vice President of Majha Kisan Committee. They are going to host an online webinar on Thursday where the senior farmers’ leaders will address all inquiries. The zoom online webinar will be open for 10,000 individuals.

Looking for President Ram Nath Kovind’s intercession for withdrawal of the three controversial farm laws, the Congress said a memorandum signed by two crore farmers would be given over to him on December 24 by a party delegation, driven by Rahul Gandhi.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to address some farmers through video conferencing on December 25.
