PM Modi‘s motive to visit Israel is completed. India and Israel have signed 7 packs covering the areas of agricultural development, water conservation, wastewater treatment, space projects innovation and technology. There is no fresh pack for defence but a reassertion has been made for the development of defence products. This will include the transfer of technology from Israel in order to support ‘Make in India’ initiative and to promote security and stability to cyberspace.

A MoU worth $40 million, is signed for setting up India-Israel Industrial R&D and Technological Innovation Fund. Both countries will contribute $20 million each. This MoU will play a seminal role is enabling the products which have the potential for commercial application.

Amongst these, three of the packs are related to Strategic Partnership in Water and Agriculture as Israel is the only country that has created an infrastructure of water supply and conservation which functions without rain. Despite being a small desert country, Israel is a world leader in agricultural technologies and a major producer of fresh produce. This pack also includes the IndiaIsrael Development Cooperation in Agriculture programme between 2018-2020. This programme will further focus on water conservation, wastewater treatment and its reuse for agriculture, desalination, water utility reforms, and the cleaning of the Ganges and other rivers using advanced technologies. The two leaders have agreed to establish Joint Working partnership for this pack.

Other three pack in this MoU are cooperation in space regarding the Atomic Clocks between ISRO (India Space Research Organisation) and ISA (Israel Space Agency). Atomic Clocks are known for their accurate time and frequency and are used as primary standards for International Time and Distribution Services to control the wave frequency of television broadcasts and in global navigation satellite systems. This MoU also includes cooperation in GEO-LEO Optical Link and an agreement on cooperation in Electric Propulsion for Small Satellites.
