Urmila Matondkar was granted police security after she filed a report against the BJP workers who broke out clashes with the Congress party workers, while she was campaigning at a coastal suburb today. She had sought police protection after the incident.

Urmila alleged that while she was campaigning at the Borivali railway station, some BJP supporters started shouting Modi and started raising slogans against them. She signaled her party workers to ignore them, but soon after the BJP workers started hurling abusive comments that led to a fight between the two parties. The actor said that the ruling party is trying to create a fear in her that she should either stop campaigning or back out of her candidature.

Sangramsinh Nishandar, Deputy Commissioner of Police said that Urmila Matondkar has been extended the protection asked by her until the Lok Sabha elections. However, he said, he has yet not reached the proof that the people involved in the clashes were BJP supporters.
