IAS Officers of 2015 batch, beginning their three month deputation to the Centre have been given a new task by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that they have to learn about goods and service tax and to work on its smooth implementation. Designated as assistant secretaries, all the officers are expected to face the challenge of implementation of GST in the first three months. They will witness the transformations during their sessions with various departments. They have been posted to 58 government departments from 3rd July 2017. Hopefully their learning would become easy once they join their respective teams.

During this period, officers will be given an extensive training with reference to SHAKSHAM/IT (CBEC System), amendment system, working of GST council, Goods and Service Tax Network and coordination between Centre and State. In coordination with Department of Personnel and Training, Department of revenue will organize special sessions for the same. Assistant secretaries are expected to be fully involved in the implementation of GST as all other ministry has been set to action.

Other than this. assistant secretaries have to lay emphasis on digital transactions and cashless economy. There will be a special session for IAS officers on United Payment Interface, Adhaar Enabled Payment System and BHIM(Bharat Interface for Money) app. Through this task, they are expected to make full use of their deputation time and develop a working culture in the country.
