Announcing the date for president elections, Election commission has stated that the election will be held on 17th July and the count for the same will take place on 20th July.
Current President, Pranab Mukherjee will be ending his term as India’s president on 24th July 2017.
Talking to the reporters, Chief Election officer Nasim Zaidi stated that the last date for filing the nominations of presidential elections is 28th June. An official notification regarding this will be issued on 14th June and the counting will take place in New Delhi on 20th July.
Elected members of state legislatives and parliament will be eligible to vote for the new president, who will assume office next month.
