President Ram Nath Kovind appointed new governors for Maharashtra, Kerala, Telangana, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh on Sunday.

Former Union Minister Kalraj Mishra has been appointed as the governor of Rajasthan. He had earlier resigned from the Narendra Modi led government as a Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in 2017. After that, he was appointed as Himachal Pradesh governor. He will step in the shoes of Kalyan Singh (incumbent Rajasthan Governor). In Himachal Pradesh, BJP leader Dattatreya (Former Union Labour Minister) will be the new Governor.
BJP leader and former Uttarakhand chief minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari has now been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra. He will replace Vidya Sagar Rao in the state.
Tamilisai Soundararajan was appointed as the Governor of Telangana and will succeed ESL Narasimhan. Tamilisai Soundararajan will be “first lady governor of the state“. She had started her political career as South Chennai District Medical Wing Secretary.
Arif Mohammed Khan has been appointed as the Governor of Kerala. He is best known for being a strong vocal critic of instant triple talaq. He resigned from the government back in 1985 when Rajiv Gandhi government changed back its stand on Triple talaq issue. He is set to replace former Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam in Kerala.
