In a fresh addition of celebrity into politics, Punjabi Singh Daler Mehndi on Friday joined Bharatiya Janata Party in New Delhi. Mehndi joined the saffron party in the presence of Union minister Vijay Goel, Dr Harshvardhan and BJP Candidate from Delhi North West Hans Raj Hans.
Born in Bihar’s Patna, Daler Mehndi is an Indian Pop singer.
It is noteworthy that Mehdi in a run-up Delhi State polls in 2013 composed a campaign song for Congress. He along with the then CM of Delhi Sheila Dixit held a press conference to release the song titled ‘Nahi Rukegi Meri Dilli’.

Mehndi addition to the Bharatiya Janata Party came days after Hans Raj Hans joined the saffron outfit. Daler Mehndi’s daughter is married to a son of Hans Raj Hans.
Many celebrities in a run-up to the national elections have joined political outfits. Earlier to this, Sunny Deol joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in presence of Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal. Sunny Deol has been named from Gurdaspur Parliamentary Seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls.
Earlier, another Bollywood actor, Urmila Matondkar joined Congress, who has been named from the Mumbai North in the mega polls 2019.
National Elections have already started and would spread across all seven phases from April 11 to May 19. Polling for Phase-IV is slated for April 29.
