Former spokesperson with the new one

“Honoured to take over as the Spokesperson @MEAIndia. Trust to have your continued support to keep up the high traditions set by my predecessors (SIC),” said Raveesh Kumar who has been appointed the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs on 4 August. Kumar would also occupy the post of joint secretary of external publicity.
Prior to being the Consul General of India at Frankfurt, Germany, he was the Deputy Chief of Mission in Jakarta from September 2010 to August 2013.

Raveesh Kumar, a 1995-batch IFS officer was currently posted in Frankfurt as Consul General of India.

Kumar is 45 and the youngest ever official spokesperson.

Outgoing spokesperson, Gopal Baglay congratulated him on twitter. “Best wishes to my successor Raveesh Kumar on taking over as the new Spokesperson of the Ministry,” Baglay tweeted.

Gopal Baglay was appointed as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.
