Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur replied to the Election Commission’s complaint against her on the remarks hurled at Hemant Karkare, a police official who dies in the 26/11 attack, She denied making defamatory comments and said that she has mentioned about the torture that he inflicted upon her. Pragya also said that it is her right to publicize the treatment she has undergone.

In her response to EC, she wrote, “I did not make any derogatory remarks for any martyr. I had mentioned only about the torture inflicted upon me during the then Congress government. It is my right to put before the public what has happened to me.”

She alleged the media and press for putting her statements distorted and interpreting them politically. She said that no such statement made by me has violated any provision under the Model Code of Conduct.

Previously, Congress leaders had approached the election commission against the remarks made by Pragya Singh Thakur against the ATS chief Hemant Karkare who died in the 26/11 attack. She said that the official died because I cursed him for his treatment with me. She said that he has got the fruits of his wrongdoings.

Pragya Singh Thakur is a BJP candidate from Bhopal constituency in Madhya Pradesh. BJP’s decision of fielding Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur has ripened up many controversies as she was accused in the Malegaon blast case. She is out on a bail and fielding the contest.

The Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh will be held in four phases on April 29, May 6, May 12, and May 19 respectively. the results shall be announced on May 23.
