The Tripura swearing-in ceremony will take place on March 8th. The Prime Minister will be the chief guest at the ceremony, Amit Shah and other party leaders will also be present.

It will be on the day of the ceremony that the alliance of BJP and IPFT will choose the chief ministerial candidate. The state president Biplab Kumar Deb is the frontrunner for the CM’s post. BJP won 39 of the 59 seats and ended the Manik Sarkar’s 25-year rule in the state, marking out BJP’s territory in the Northeast.

The show of strength is expected considering it’s a huge victory for BJP in the Northeast. The alliance will be meeting on Tuesday to discuss the setting up of the government in the state. Chief  Minister Manik Sarkar who is not going to be in power following March 8th handed over his resignation to the Governor Tathagata Roy. Biplab Kumar Deb also met the chief minister to take his blessings before the swearing-in ceremony.

The swearing-in ceremony will be the start of a new chapter in Tripura’s history, one that marks the saffron era. BJP played its cards right in Tripura and it translated in the vote count. Tripura is the 20th state that BJP will have under its belt. While the celebrations are on, BJP can’t let its guard down. March 8th will signify much change in India’s history as well. The opposition is not in a good position and speaks of what might happen during the 2019 elections and if these assembly elections are the prelims before the final exam then the other parties have much work to do, it’s as if the people in the northeast have spoken. If the results are anything to go by, BJP might even win the general elections whether the opposition like it or not.
