The involvement of the TRS party was seen as a new development as it had avoided associating with the celebration of the merger in any kind. Over the years, the party had consciously stayed away from such events.
On the eve, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted the people of Hyderabad. The leader posted a tweeted message through his official account to express his wishes.
Wishing people of Telangana, Marathwada & Hyderabad-Karnataka on Hyderabad Liberation Day.
This was a momentous day when people decided to uproot the inhuman rule of the Nizam and merged with the Indian Union.
I bow to the martyrs who fought against the atrocities of Razakars.

The BJP unit of Telangana has urged the Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to direct the government to celebrate the day. Saffron party has also alleged that the TRS party initially supported the demand to celebrate the merger of Hyderabad back in the days of Telangana formation. However, after coming to power, the TRS government stepped back from its commitment owing to the objection from its friendly parties.
To mark the occasion in a grand manner, TRS working president and state minister KT Rama Rao unfolded the national flag at TRS Bhavan. Other ministers from the state such as Ministers Srinivas Goud, Malla Reddy, MLCs Narsimha Reddy, and P Rajeshwar Reddy were also present in the celebration.
