After adding reels on Instagram, Facebook is looking to add ‘Tik-Tok’ style features on its main app in India.

After the ban of TikTok in India, many companies have started to pull the ‘TikTok crowd” on their platform by adding features like short videos and stuff. Facebook’s reels on Instagram gained popularity in no time.

Now to add more to that, Facebook is testing short videos or reels like video features in India.

Currently “Short Videos” has a dedicated section within the news feed. On top of it sits the “Create” button, where you can create the stuff of your own. This new ‘Short Videos’ feature lets you add music to your recorded clip, pause and record just like how TikTok allowed it

“We’re always testing new creative tools so we can learn about how people want to express themselves. Short-form videos are extremely popular and we are looking at new ways to provide this experience for people to connect, create and share on Facebook,” a Facebook spokesperson told.

According to reports, the daily engagement of Facebook’s services in India has increased by more than 25% since the ban on TikTok.

Not only Facebook but Youtube has also started a section of short videos in their app. Companies like ShareChat and MX Player streaming services have launched standalone apps or integrated features. In order to attract the TikTok audience on their platform.

ByteDance is in talks with Reliance as they are looking to bring their business back in India. Facebook is trying to wrap up it’s testing quickly because if the deal between Bytedance and Reliance goes through, the original TikTok crowd will obviously prefer TikTok over Facebook’s short videos or Instagram reels.
