Match Details

The eliminator match was all set to be played in Chennai.

MI won the toss and elected to bat first, setting up a good total.

Mumbai Indians (MI) innings

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened the innings for MI.

They both started to get along well and form a partnership.

Naveen-ul-Haq didn’t let that happen as he took the wicket of Rohit in the third over.

In the next over, Ishan also lost his wicket, as the batting line-up was in trouble.

Cameron Green and Surya Kumar Yadav handled the situation as they formed a partnership of 66 runs.

Naveen, in the 11th over, took both of their wickets and gave breakthroughs to the MI team.

MI used their impact player in the first inning itself, as they sent Sky out and called in Nehal so that he could add some runs.

Nehal, in the end, played a firing knock of 23 runs, by which MI made a total of 182/8.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) innings

Kyle Mayers came in as a replacement for Yash Thakur.

Kyle and Prerak opened the inning for LSG as Akash Madhwal, the young talent, gave them their first breakthrough in the second over.

Chris Jordan also didn’t stay back as he took the wicket of Kyle.

Marcus Stoinis started to play great innings as the match was
going towards LSG.

Akash Madhwal came back into action, taking four wickets in two overs.

His outstanding bowling performance pushed back the LSG team.

In the last over of his spell, he bowled Mohsin Khan as the LSG team got all out for a score of 101.

MI won the match by 81 runs, as for the first time in the history of the IPL playoffs, any bowler got the figure that Akash got.

Akash got 5-5 in 3.3 overs, as he was also the Player of the Match.
