Yesterday, Microsoft and the NBA announced a multi-year alliance with a goal to redefine and personalize the fan experience.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says “We are thrilled to serve as the official AI partner of the NBA. Together, we’ll bring fans closer to the game and players they love with new personalized experiences. Which will be powered by Microsoft Azure”.

This tie-up will rebuild fan’s engagement with the NBA from their devices by customizing experiences for the NBA’s global fanbase, which includes the 1.8 billion social media followers across all league, team and player accounts. The addition of new features definitely excites fans.

Adam Silver, NBA commissioner says “This partnership with Microsoft will help us redefine the way our fans experience NBA basketball”. He also says that their goal, working with Microsoft, is to create customized content which allows fans whether they are in an NBA arena or watching from anywhere around the world to immerse themselves in all aspects of the game and engage directly with our teams and players.”

With this tie-up Microsoft will also become the entitlement partner of the NBA Draft Combine. Also, an associate partner of future marquee events. The marquee events include NBA All-Star, MGM Resorts NBA Summer League and WNBA All-Star.

This tie-up surely encourages more engagement of fans and also will personalize their experiences. The addition of new technology and artificial intelligence allows fans to experience a better verion of games. The companies will also look over the additional ways by which they can be used to enhance the NBA’s business and game operations.
