Ravi Shastri

During the meeting with BCCI special committee comprising acting president CK Khanna, CEO Rahul Johri, acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary and Committee Of Administrators member Diana Edulji, newly appointed head coach of Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri has expressed his desire to have batting legend Sachin Tendulkar as a batting consultant in the team provided it is not a case of conflict of interest.

Tendulkar is a part of the BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) which also includes Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. This desire by Ravi Shastri is followed by the official appointment of Ravi Sastri as the head coach and Bharat Arun as the bowling coach of Indian cricket on Tuesday. However, the special committee made it clear that any role with the team has to be clear of conflict of interest.

A member of the committee told, “Ravi put forward the idea of having Sachin on board as a consultant for a very short period. But the committee promptly reminded him about the conflict of interest clause, And expecting someone to be around for an extremely short period and leave his other professional commitments is asking for a bit too much.”

Also if Sachin accepts the role, he would have to break his ties with other various commitments including IPL.
