Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won their maiden IPL trophy.

RCB was founded in 2008 by United Spirits and was named after their liquor brand, Royal Challenge.

Since 2008, RCB has been participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In the history of 16 years, RCB has never won a single IPL trophy.

They have reached the finals three times but weren’t able to win it.

The Indian Premier League was started for men, and since last year, the Women’s Premier League has also started.

The first WPL edition was in 2023 when the Mumbai Indian Women’s team won.

WPL Season 2

The Women’s Premier League second edition started great for the RCB team.

They initially were leading in the first set of matches and holding a good position.

After that, in the second set, they started to fall a bit but managed to reach the semi-finals.

In the semifinals, the RCB team faced Mumbai India Women’s, as they won the eliminator.

With the win, they made their way into the finals, which was against the Delhi Capitals women.

Match Details

The finals of the WPL were held in Delhi between DC women and RCB women.

The RCB women have never won a match against the DC women.

DC won the toss and elected to bat first.

Delhi Capitals Innings

Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma opened the innings for the Delhi Capitals.

They both started great, as Shafali was playing an outstanding knock.

Shafali, while trying to hit the ball for a six, landed over the catch at the boundary with Wareham.

Sophie Molineux took her wicket, and after that, she took two more wickets in the same over.

After that, wickets started to fall in quick intervals as DC lost all their wickets for a total of just 113 runs.

Shreyanka Patil took four wickets, Sophie Molineux took three wickets, and Asha Sobhana took two wickets.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Innings

Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine opened the innings for them.

They both started slow and were slowing, taking the match towards victory.

They both gave a good and stable start, as Sophie lost her wicket.

Soon Smriti also lost her wicket as Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh took forward the innings.

They both took RCB to their first-ever victory, as the wait has finally been over.

After 16 long years, they finally won the IPL trophy.

They became the first-ever team to get the Purple Cap, Orange Cap, and the Fair Play award.
