The Chennai Super Kings were not the same in this edition of the Dream11 IPL as they ended their campaign first time without making it tot the playoffs. Another heartbreak for the fans came in just after that as their star batsman Shane Watson took retirement from all forms of cricket. The man from Australia took Twitter to handle to announce the news. He wrote that it is tough to get on but quite excited for the next new aspect of his life.

The 39-year-old was heard speaking to a youtube channel where he cleared that he wanted to play for Australia after his mother took him to test match when he was 5 year’s old.

Watson thanked his parents who helped him achieve his dream by giving many sacrifices throughout their lives.

Further, he thanked the remaining members of his family which included his sister and his wife. He also thanked his coach, teammates and mentor for the incredible support throughout his career.

Watson finds himself quite fortunate to play till 39 years of age after certain injuries that he has had in the past.

For the men in yellow this season, Watson scored 299 runs from 11 matches at a strike rate of 121.05. However, CSK finished at the bottom of the table but won the last 3 matches with dignity.

The 39-year-old retired from International Cricket in 2016 where he had also captained the Australian side.

He was a part of the prime Australian team when the won the 2007 and 2015 world cup. He was all the player of the tournament in the 2012 T20 World Cup.

The number speak for themselves and Watson has played 190 ODI’s, 59 Tests, and 58 T20’s and scored 10,950 International Runs.
