Shivam knock, makes India win the first T-20I against Afghanistan.
After the India tour of South Africa, it was time for the Afghanistan tour of India.
The tour of Afghanistan and India consists of three T-20I matches.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are back in the T-20I, as Rohit will lead India in the series.
Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav are ruled out due to injuries.
Whereas, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah have been given rest.
Match Details
The first match was played on January 11 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.
India won the toss and elected to field first.
Afghanistan Innings
Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran opened the innings for them.
They both started to score runs and take single doubles-from the start.
They both kept on going as they formed a partnership of 50 runs.
Axar Patel didn’t let them build the partnership anymore as he took the wicket of Gurbaz.
In the next over, Shivam Dube took the wicket of Ibrahim.
Both the batsmen who were settled got out, as in the next over, Axar bowled Rahmat.
Afghanistan got two quick breakthroughs as they went from 50/0 to 57/3.
Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai handled the situation from their.
They took forward the innings, as by the knock of 42 runs by Nabi, they reached a total of 158/5.
Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel took two wickets each, while Shivam Dube took one wicket.
India Innings
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the innings for them.
In the second ball of the innings, Rohit hit the ball straight as he tried to run for a single.
Shubman didn’t respond as Rohit got run out and Tilak came in to bat.
Shubman hit outstanding fours, but he soon lost his wicket to Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
Tilak and Shivam took forward the innings from there, as Shivam was performing outstandingly.
Shivam’s outstanding knock of 60 not-out runs made India win the match.
India won the match by six wickets, and Shivam was elected Player of the Match.
