Anil Kumble and Virender Sehwag

The search for the next head coach for Indian cricket team has been started one month ago and now after the resignation of Anil Kumble, this search has taken pace. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) is geared up to go through the list of applicants to find the new coach.

With so many candidates in the race, former India captain Ajit Wadekar spoke that Virender Sehwag is his favourite choice for the coach. “If not Anil Kumble, then Virender Sehwag is the best option India can have. He has an attacking style approach towards the game and it will be good for India,” Ajit Wadekar said.

Being Kumble his first choice, he said that looking the statistics will give the answers that why he is best for India and it was due to him that India became such a dominant team in the past one year.

However, seeing that Kumble cannot come back, he said, “But, if you ask me as a Kumble’s successor, it should be Sehwag.”

“When I was the coach of the Indian team, Anil Kumble was there. He was one of the nicest persons in the team. He was well educated, sincere and mad about his game. The only thing he focussed on – victory. I am amazed after his resignation,” Wadekar said remembering the old moments with Kumble. He added,”I have seen Kumble sweating it out on a particular delivery during the net sessions. He wanted perfection in everything. Jumbo is a real gem.”

Wadekar also raised question on Kohli that how can he change his opinion about such a good coach in just one year and that too when India was performing so well in all formats of the game. Also he said that this act by Kohli is a sign of immaturity.
