Amazon Internet Services Pvt Ltd (AISPL), the Indian reseller of Amazon Web Services (AWS), posted ₹1,206 crore in revenue from operations in FY18, growing three-fold from ₹397 crore in FY17, according to the company filing with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

Furthermore, the company posted a net profit of ₹28.5 crore in the current fiscal, from a loss of ₹10.9 crore in FY17.

“The growth primarily reflects increased custom usage of cloud-related services, partially offset by pricing changes,” the company said in the filing.

The revenue for AISPL consists of proceeds from the sale of compute, storage, database and other cloud-related service offerings (including training) for startups, enterprises, government agencies, and academic institutions in India.

In December last year, Amazon had said it had become an approved cloud service provider by the Indian government. The revenue also includes that from general marketing and promotional services provided to group company Amazon Web Services. This contribution rose to ₹165 crore in FY18, from ₹52 crore in FY17.

AWS has been growing its business across the globe, while it competes with other cloud service providers like Microsoft’s Azure, Alibaba’s Aliyun, and Google’s cloud services, which has been aggressively growing business in India.

Apart from the cloud business, Amazon continues to strengthen its position in India, across different businesses.

Earlier today it was reported, that Amazon pumped in ₹220 crore in its digital payments arm Amazon Pay. Earlier this month, Amazon’s logistics business in India, Amazon Transportation Services received ₹122 crore from its parent.
