Online payments startup MobiKwik has announced the appointment of Rukaiya Rangwala as a new Business Head for its payment gateway business.

According to the LinkedIn profile of Rukaiya Rangwala, she joined the company in April this year. Prior to MobiKwik, Rukaiya was working with entrepreneurial ventures, and before that worked with e-commerce player Jabong at various senior positions.

Prior to that, she has also worked at Dell for around eight years. Her experience also includes working with Rocket Internet in the past, where she was helping the venture capital firm to establish its portfolio in India.

Speaking about her new role, Rangwala says,

I am excited to join MobiKwik Payment Gateway at a time when mobile digital payments are at an inflection point. As a team, we will strive to extend MobiKwik Payment Gateway to millions of businesses in India that need robust payment support.

Earlier this month, MokiKwik relaunched its payment gateway business Zaakpay as ‘MobiKwik Payment Gateway’. It now aims to clock $5 billion worth of transactions on the platform by end of FY 2018.

In a statement, the company said that MobiKwik is growing its Payment Gateway team size to 100 employees by FY 2018 in 5 cities which include Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Bangalore.It currently powers payments for some 30,000

The company is currently powering payments for some 30,000 e-commerce websites and apps. It hopes to double that figure by FY 2018. Current clients of MobiKwik Payment Gateway include UBER, Zomato, Domino’s, IRCTC, Grofers, Instamojo, Easemytrip, among others.

Recently, MobiKwik announced a partnership with Bajaj Finserv under which it is building an application platform which will seamlessly deliver credit from Bajaj Finance to pre-approved e-wallet holders.

The online payments startup has planned to spend about ₹80 crore on marketing and promotions over the period of next six months. With such move, it is expecting to drive transaction volumes on its platform and get more consumers onboard.
