Softbank-backed India’s leading hospitality startup OYO has announced its plan to hire more than 2,000 technology experts and engineers in the next two years. The announcement was made at OYO’s maiden tech conference.

Ritesh Agarwal, founder and CEO, OYO, said: “ At OYO, we currently have 700 technology experts and engineers that have developed over 20 in-house products helping 10,000+ asset partners globally and making them better hospitality players,”

He further added, “With another 2020 experts joining us by 2020, we will continue to invest in technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and IoT, that will make curated guest experiences at every price point a reality.”

At the tech conference, OYO also showcased a product, highlighting the technology applications introduced by OYO to automate customers, hotel partners and employee touch points.

OYO is looking to leverage technology to enhance the customer experience across the hospitality industry.

The hospitality startup claims to have more than 20 technological products powering different business verticals. The property manager app provides an end-to-end solution for managing the daily functions of the property like visibility, booking sales channels, customer requests, housekeeping, and finances.

The development comes soon after the hospitality giant announced its foray into the UK market, marking its first expansion outside Asia. Earlier in June, OYO marked its foray into the China market.

In July, OYO acquired Mumbai-based IoT company AblePlus, to strengthen its technology platform, as it looks to create a sustainable ecosystem powered by technology and artificial intelligence for managing hotels and assets.

Recently, OYO secured the top spot in the top 25 startups list released by LinkedIn for India.

Over the last seven years, OYO has captured the Indian market, becoming the leading hospitality player. It has further expanded its presence to more than 369 cities across the global markets including India, China, Malaysia, Nepal, and the latest UK.
