It’s been two years since Google started rolling out a feature that lets you run Android apps on Chromebooks. And while Android support has come a long way, there’s one thing Android apps couldn’t do on Chromebook until now i.e access an SD card. But now, Google is bringing one of the most awaited features by allowing Android apps to access the SD.

More details:

Earlier Some Android apps on Chromebook were able to access the external SD card and some aren’t but now all the apps can get access to SD card.

This is one of the required features as Chromebooks have a limited amount of built-in storage and users face a lot of problems with that very less built-in storage (16gb or 32gb). Allowing Android apps on Chromebooks to save data to an SD card could help make them a lot more useful when you don’t have an internet connection. Android apps use a lot of data and if a user wants to see the videos from the Netflix, YouTube etc. in offline mode, this feature could prove beneficial for them.

Currently, you will be able to see this option of SD card feature in storage settings if you have updated to the latest version of Chrome i.e Google Chrome Beta.
