The design is nothing new here, the device looks similar to that of their previous dual camera smartphone CoolPad Cool 1. The 1080p IPS LCD panel is protected by the 2.5D curved display. On the software side is concerned, the device runs on a customised version of Android Nougat and is expected to Android Oreo update by the end of December 2017.

More on the camera, the device offers dual camera setup similar to that of Huawei P10, Nokia 8 and Honor 8. The dual 13 MP (RGB + Monochrome) can capture details and helps to create the bokeh effect. The rear camera setup does support 4K video recording capability, however, it doesn’t offer either of the stabilisation features (OIS or EIS). The front-facing 8 MP camera can justify its job in the well-lit condition.

The CoolPad Cool Play 6 comes with 4000 mAh battery. According to CoolPad India CEO, the software is optimised in such a way that the device can give the performance equivalent to a smartphone with 4500 mAh battery. The device does offer all the necessary features like 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB type C for faster charging and data transfer.

This device is being assembled in India as a Make in India initiative, and the company is also planning for expansion to add more authorised service centres in India.

Here is the official statement from Syed Tajuddin CEO CoolPad India:
