Rahul Sharma co-founded Indian smartphone OEM, Micromax India has launched a new premium mid-tier smartphone in India, dubbed as the Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro. The selling rights of the device are with Flipkart and the same will be available from 6th December midnight.

As one can expect, the smartphone offers a premium metal design. The design is in line with the other smartphones with a similar price tag. After a long haul, the Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro’s design feels premium and in line with the next generation smartphones.

For the price tag of ₹13,999, the hardware offered does feel bit underrated. The smartphone offers a 5.7-inch IPS LCD touch panel with newer 18:9 aspect ratio. However, at this price point, the company could have easily included an FHD+ panel, but the 1440x720p HD+ is what we get. Without giving much of a thought, the smartphone maker offers an entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Octa-core Mobile Solution. This Octa-core processor is paired with 4 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 64 GB onboard flash storage. The phone does offer a micro SD slot for the additional storage seekers (up to 128 GB).

Connectivity front on this device is pretty basic. The smartphone offers dual nano-SIM card slots with 4G LTE and VoLte capability on both the slots. Obvious things like the Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, and WiFi Hotspot are also present on the device. So, it does offer almost everything when it comes to connectivity.

Micromax India has taken a different approach for the camera. The phone offers a dual front-facing selfie camera setup with a 20 MP main RGB sensor and an 8 MP depth sensing shooter. The 16 MP main camera on the back does offer 1080p video recording capability so does the front-facing selfie camera. The fingerprint scanner is on the back, and the brand claims that the device can unlock in just quarter of a second.

The company offers the similar forked Android Nougat 7.1 user interface leaving no clue for the future software updates. The 3000 mAh sealed battery powers the device with normal charging capability via micro USB port, which also enacts as the USB OTG port.

Here is the official product statement from Shubhodhip Pal, Chief Operating Officer, Micromax Informatics:

“We understand that in the mid- premium range smartphones, consumers demand a complete package – a smartphone that has best in class cameras, screen that is large enough for content viewing, battery that doesn’t drain in a day and off course aesthetics that are head turner. We truly believe that Infinity Pro is that package and our consumers will be delighted with the pricing as well. We are known to bring revolutionary products within the range of millions of Indians and this is another step in that direction.

We are pleased that we are joining hands with Flipkart yet again as this would help us reach out to the young, hyper social consumers. With Canvas Infinity Pro, we ushered in a smartphone revolution and with the successor of the iconic smartphone, we aim to continue our pursuits to breach barriers and reach newer heights in our bezel-less revolution.”
