The Islamic State group in a statement issued by the Amaq propaganda agency claimed the responsibility for the bomb attack on a packed underground train in London on Friday, 15 Sep.

29 people were injured on Friday when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on a packed underground train at a London station. This is the fifth terrorist attack this year in the United Kingdom, raising the threat level in the country to critical level.

A statement published in the Amaq propaganda agency read that “The bombing on a metro in London was carried out by a detachment of the Islamic State.” UK Prime Minister Theresa May said that the attack was carried out with an aim of clearly causing significant harm.

The explosion took place yesterday when the District Line Tube as the train pulled into Parsons Green station. According to the people present at the site of the incident, they reported that they heard a bang and then saw a fireball inside the carriage.

According to the news reporters, the investigators were searching the site and have recovered a circuit board from the site. The British media has termed the explosion as the “bucket bomber”. Scotland Yard read “it was a terror incident and they assess an IED triggered the blast. A hunt was on for a suspect.”

Following the terrorist attack, Prime Minister Theresa May immediately called for an emergency meeting of the government’s emergency response committee. Expressing her concern over the situation she called it a cowardly attack and said that the threat level to the nation is critical now.

The London Ambulance Service reported that 29 people were injured though none suffered a life-threatening injury, most had flash burns.

The transport has transferred the case to the Scotland Yard’s counter-terrorism squad, SO15. The senior national coordinator for counter-terrorism policing, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said that the bucket blast was a terrorist attack and the squad is investigating the case now.
