Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina

Dhaka, Oct 4: In a surprise move, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday phoned her Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina, hours ahead of her official visit to India, as per the officials.

Khan called Hasina to convey her about the pertaining situation in Jammu and Kashmir post India revoked Article 370 and removed special status given to J&K, in the latest move of his efforts to summon support from Islamic nations and pioneers over his concern about the Kashmir issue.

Hasina’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told PTI both the leaders, during the phone conversation, exchanged friendly views, as well as, Khan inquired Hasina about her eye condition. He said, “Prime Minister Hasina thanked Khan for inquiring about her eye condition.”

Officials acknowledged with the relationship between Dhaka and Islamabad has said the recent development (phone talks) marked the first time since Khan assumed the office last year.

Hasina arrived in New Delhi on Thursday in an official four-day visit to participate in the  India Economic Summit of the World Economic Forum (WEF). She is also expected to hold one-to-one dialogues with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The diplomatic and bilateral ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh worsed since 2016 when Dhaka forced Islamabad to take back its three official, allegedly blamed for links with Islamic militants.
