South Korean President Moon Jae-in has arrived in the United States on Wednesday to hold discussions with American President Donald Trump aimed to resolve stalled diplomatics talks between North Korea and Washington.

According to ANI news reports, this development will mark the first meeting between Trump and Moon since the Hanoi summit failure between Trump and his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong-un in February.

The US president has urged Moon to help facilitate further dialogues with the North Korean leader.

South Korean national security office (NSO) deputy director Kim Hyun-chung was quoted by Yonhap News agency at Cheong Wa Dae as saying, “The upcoming (US-South Korea) summit comes on a joint view that consultation between the two dialogues following the Hanoi summit.”

After the North Korea-US summit, on February 28, ended abruptly without reaching any nuclear agreement due to differences as Kim was seeking US sanctions relief and Trump wanted Pyongyang’s complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, Moon held an emergency telephonic conversation with Trump.

Pyongyang has sought a partial relief in the US sanctions during a summit in Vietnam, as reported by North Korean foreign minister Ri Yong Ho. However, the US has held on its stand over to ease sanctions only when North Kim stay committed to his promise to dismantle its nuclear missile weapon development and program.
