An apex court of Tokyo has on Saturday retracted its plan to begin the trial for ex-Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn this year in September.

According to ANI news reports, Ghosn was fired as the chairman of both Mitsubishi Motors and Nissan following his detention in last year’s December after which he resigned as the CEO and chairman of French carmaker Renault.

The NHK world, while quoting sources, reported the court has decided not to separate the court trial for Nissan motors and Ghosn, stating their responsibility shouldn’t be judged through separate trials. Ghosn’s lawyers have urged the court to try to hold the two court trails separately.

Tokyo court’s Saturday’s decision could mean the court trial will not begin this year, Japanese media reported.

A Tokyo court has on Thursday approved Nissan’s ex-chief Ghosn’s release bail at $4.5 million for the second time since he was detained last year over financial misconduct charges.

Prosecutors are likely to make an appeal to the court, though, Ghosn’s bail approval marks the second time when he has been freed from prison on bail request.

Last month, in a video message, while denying all accusations levelled against him by prosecutors in the court, Ghosn has stated: “This is a conspiracy … this is not about greed or dictatorship, this is about a plot, this about a conspiracy, this is about a backstabbing.”

After posting release bail, Ghosn will be allowed to leave Tokyo’s detention centre, but however, his conversations and movement will be strictly monitored in accordance with his earlier bail conditions.
