Amid tension escalation between India and Pakistan, the United States President Donald Trump said on Thursday that there was a “reasonably decent news” and “reasonably attractive” reports from the two sides and expressed further hope that both countries’ tension is “going to come to an end”.

According to ANI news reports, while addressing a press conference after his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un in Vietnam, Trump said, “We have, I think, reasonably attractive news from Pakistan and India. We have been going at it. We have been involved and trying to help them stop.”

While responding to reporters over tensions between Pakistan and India, Trump said, “We have some reasonably decent news. Hopefully, that (tension) is going to be coming to an end.”

Furthermore, Trump went on to say: “It has been going on for a long time, decades and decades. There is a lot of dislikes, unfortunately. So we have been in the middle, trying to help them both out so that we can get some organization and some peace, probably that is going to be happening.”

The US secretary of state Mike Pompeo has on Wednesday held talks with Indian national security advisor Ajit Doval, where he asserted that Washington supports India’s stand to take action against Pakistan backed and based Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit working from Pakistani soil.

After India’s aerial strikes in Balakot, Pompeo has said, “I spoke to Pakistani foreign minister Qureshi to underscore the priority of de-escalating current tensions by avoiding military action, and the urgency of Pakistan taking meaningful action against terrorist groups operating on its soil.”

The US has expressed to both India’s and Pakistan’s ministers that they encourage both sides to exercise restraint and avoid any further escalation at any cost.
