Last year Kawasaki updated the Vulcan S with a BS6 compliant motor and for MY2022, the Japanese brand had decided to offer a brand new colour scheme. So basically, this new Metallic Matte Grey shade has made its debut and to be precise, the updated Vulcan S range will now be costlier by Rs.6,000 when compares to the outgoing model.

Updates

To begin with, Kawasaki Vulcan S is now available with a new shade called Metallic Matte Grey. Right now, this is the only colour customers can buy. Starting with the shade, it comes with green accents around the tank and alloys. In terms of features, the bike will continue to get an all-LED lighting setup alongside a fully digital instrument console.

Mechanicals

Suspension duties for the updated Vulcan S are managed by a 41mm telescopic fork up front meanwhile at the rear, it gets a preload-adjustable monoshock setup. For enough stopping power, the bike runs on large 18-inch alloy wheels with 300mm disc (front) and 250mm disc (rear) in conjunction with dual-channel ABS as standard.

The overall weight of the bike is somewhere around 235kgs. Similarly, as per the spec sheet, the ground clearance of the same stands near 130mm.

Engine

At the heart, the updated Vulcan S will still get a BS6 compliant 649cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The overall output from this unit is rated at 61PS @ 7,500 RPM and 62.4Nm @ 6,600 RPM while being mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The fuel tank capacity of the all-new cruiser stands at 14-litres with a decent range on offer.

Alternatives

In India, Kawasaki Vulcan S does not have any direct rival. Benelli has been expanding its lineup in India. The Italian brand has already decided to focus on 250cc to 500cc segment bikes and therefore, they have recently introduced the all-new Benelli 502C in India. For starters, it comes powered by a 500cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The overall output from the same is rated at 47BHP and 46Nm while being paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Feature-wise, it packs some essential equipment such as full LED lighting, LCD instrument console, double-barrel exhaust and dual-channel ABS just to name a few.
