BMW is slightly late to the party but as they say, “It’s better late than never”, we are finally here to welcome the all-new BMW iX. This new SUV from the German marque is fully electric and unlike the rivals, it does feature some components from the future. Priced at Rs.1.16 Crore (ex-showroom, Delhi), iX is currently available in a single trim named xDrive40. Interestingly, the carmaker has announced that bookings for the same can now be placed by visiting the brand’s website. However, if you wish to experience it in person then this new SUV can also be booked at the dealership itself.

Planning to switch to an environment-friendly vehicle? Check out all the details related to it down below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • BMW has finally launched the all-new iX electric SUV in India.

With so many mixed reviews for the design language, the new iX does feel slightly tricky. To begin with, it comes equipped with sleek LED headlamps, a large kidney grille and a muscular bonnet hood at the front. Similarly, the side and rear profile are also incorporated with unique alloy wheels and LED taillamps that will ultimately take some time to grow on all of us.

BMW really respects everyone’s tastes and choices. As a result, the carmaker has decided to offer the all-new iX with five different exterior shades, including Mineral White, Black Sapphire, Sophisto Grey, Phytonic Blue and Aventurine Red. Surprisingly, the last colour scheme is only available as a BMW Individual shade.

Inside the cabin, the new iX does feel like it belongs to the future. The entire layout with a multi-function steering wheel, long AC vents, continuously running driver’s display (12.3-inch) and touchscreen infotainment system (14.9-inch) reminds you of the concept car itself.

Powerplant

Currently, BMW has only introduced the iX xDrive40 variant in India. This way, the all-new SUV is currently available with two batteries with an overall capacity rated at 76.6kWh. Just like the batteries, there are twin electric motors on either axle to churn out a massive 322bhp and 630Nm of peak torque.

Worried about charging? You shouldn’t be as the iX electric SUV can be fully juiced up in around 7 hours while using the 11kW AC charger. To do this job even faster, the upcoming owners can also use a DC charger with a capacity of up to 150kW.

Alternatives

In India, the all-new BMW iX will compete against some well-known rivals, including Mercedes Benz EQC, Audi e-Tron and Jaguar I-Pace. Planning to go fully electric? Check out the recently arrived e-Tron down below.

Launched recently, the new Audi e-Tron feels just like a typical luxury SUV. However, being an electric one, it uses twin electric motors in two different tunes. The first one is obviously the e-Tron 50 variant that uses a 71kWh battery pack with twin electric motors to churn out a decent 312PS and 540Nm. Similarly, the top-end e-Tron 55 is available with a powerful setup that propels a massive 408PS and 664Nm (Boost mode). Feature-wise, it comes loaded with four-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Audi’s Virtual Cockpit among others.
