Nothing new from Maruti Suzuki’s point of view but in the real world, this milestone really calls for a celebration. Launched back in 2012, Ertiga has now become a best-seller in the MPV segment just because it is a value for money product. Interestingly, the Indian brand even boasts that around 40 per cent of the recent sales are because of the CNG variant that was launched last year.

Planning to enter this segment? Check out all the details related to the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga down below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has recently achieved an all-new milestone.
  • The carmaker has already sold over 7 Lakh units of Ertiga in India.
  • Around 40 per cent of recent sales are based upon the CNG units.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

With a seven-seater layout, the new Ertiga feels well balanced. Available in four variants, including LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi Plus, the carmaker has priced it between Rs.7.96 Lakhs to Rs.10.69 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Coming to the features, the carmaker has amply loaded Ertiga with all sorts of modern aids. To begin with, it comes equipped with LED headlights, automatic climate control, a reverse parking camera and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display depending upon the variants. Interestingly, the third-row seats can be easily reclined to expand the boot space. However, with the third row up, the overall boot space still remains constrained.

For occupants safety, it also gets twin airbags, ABS, ISOFIX child seat mounts and EBD. Surprisingly, the top-end variants are also equipped with 15-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels that look absolutely stunning in the real world.

Engine

Powering the new Ertiga is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. The overall output from this unit is currently rated at 103BHP and 138Nm while being paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Interestingly, the top-end variant is available with a mild-hybrid system. Also, a CNG variant has also been introduced to offer a slightly better fuel efficiency.

Spied several times, we expect the 2022 Ertiga to make its global debut really soon.

Alternatives

In India, Ertiga does not get any direct rivals. However, in terms of practicality, it goes head-on against the likes of Renault Triber and Mahindra Marazzo. Planning to buy an affordable MPV? You can definitely consider Marazzo if the budget is slightly flexible.

Mahindra Marazzo

Not the best seller but in terms of practicality, the all-new Mahindra Marazzo is as good as the Ertiga. Available with a sole 121BHP, 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, this MPV does make a lot of sense. In terms of features, the Indian carmaker has decided to load it up to the brim with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual front airbags, rear parking camera, fog lamps and automatic climate control to name a few.
