For everyone who was waiting for the 2022 KTM RC 390, the Austrian brand has finally launched the updated sports bike in India with a price tag starting at Rs.3.14 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). This time, KTM has decided to keep it feature-loaded and that’s the sole reason why there’s a big bump in the overall pricing.

But does an increase in number of features really justify the price tag? Well, let’s check out the 2022 RC 390 thoroughly and find out if it is worth spending money on or not.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • 2022 RC 390 has finally made its Indian debut.
  • Receives multiple cosmetic and feature updates.
  • Powered by a 43PS, 373cc single-cylinder engine.

2022 KTM RC 390: What’s new?

Just like how KTM does it for litre-class motorcycles, the design of the all-new RC 390 is inspired by some legendary track weapons. Also, prioritising aerodynamic efficiency has really helped the overall design to a great extent. Airflow is better on this new model when compared to the outgoing one. That’s the only reason why the design now stands slightly on the aggressive side.

Offered in the typical KTM shades including Orange and Factory Racing Blue, it does look fresh from all four ends.

Another interesting bit about the 2022 RC 390 is that the seating position has been tweaked to make it user friendly. Even several features such as LED lighting, cornering ABS, coloured TFT display, SuperMoto mode and an adjustable handlebar helps in improving the overall practicality. For braking duties, KTM has decided to offer disc brakes on either end. Thankfully, the suspension setup is also world-class keeping in mind that it is a mid-segment sports bike.

Talking about the TFT display in a little more detailed manner, it now comes with navigation via the KTM My Ride application. Several other information related to the bike is also available on both the display and your smartphone because of the connecting facility.

The updated model is available with the same 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine but this time with a larger airbox. As a result, this setup is now capable of churning out a massive 43PS of power and 37Nm of peak torque while being paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The new bike is also getting slip and assist clutch as standard.

KTM even confirmed that the overall weight of the 2022 RC 390 has witnessed an increment. This way, we cannot expect the improvement in power figures to help performance much. To supplement the range, the bike manufacturer has finally decided to offer a larger fuel tank with a capacity of somewhere around 13.7-litres.

Alternatives

In India, KTM RC 390 does not have any direct rival. However, in terms of price and performance, it lies somewhere between TVS Apache RR 310 and Kawasaki Ninja 300.
