BMW is celebrating 50 years of its performance arm, the M division, but how? That’s an interesting question and to answer it, we have to introduce you to the all-new BMW M4 CSL that is faster, smarter, better and limited in number. Yes, the German automaker has confirmed that only 1000 units of the same will roll out globally and that’s what makes it special.

Want to learn more about this limited-run sports car? Here’s take a look at the details related to the all-new BMW M4 CSL down below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • BMW M4 CSL has finally made its world debut.
  • Only 1000 units will be rolling out from the mill.
  • Is here to celebrate 50 years of BMW’s M division.

BMW M4 CSL

On the outside, it has received some edition specific changes. The first one is the exclusive Frozen Brooklyn Grey metallic shade complimented by exposed carbon fibre for an aggressive look. Didn’t like this colour? There are two more shades named Sapphire Black (metallic) and Alpine White (solid) available as optional. Other updates in the form of blacked-out badges, similarly treated side sills, yellow BMW Laserlight and edition specific CFRP spilters are also there to enhance the overall profile.

Now, inside the cabin, changes have been made to reduce the weight. This way, the normal seats that are offered on the regular M4 Competition have been replaced by the M Carbon bucket seats resulting in a drop of around 21kgs in the overall weight. Apart from this, the interior remains more or less similar to the regular sports car in terms of layout.

Talking about the features, the all-new BMW M4 CSL still comes loaded with a head-up display, 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, two-zone climate control, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, three drive modes and BMW’s Driving Assist along with Park Assist mostly as standard.

There’s a major tweak on the handling front. The rear-wheel-drive sports car is featuring chassis upgrades. Also, the ride height has been lowered by 8mm to improve the complete ride and handling. The brand says that CSL stands for “Competition, Sport, Lightweight”. Well, the name really suits the product but before continuing let’s take a look at its heart down below.

BMW’s reliable 3.0-litre six-cylinder, twin-turbocharged engine will be powering the limited-run M4. But when compared to the regular M4 Competition, this one produces 40 horsepower more. The overall output according to the brand’s spec sheet for M4 CSL stands at an impressive 543 horsepower and 649Nm while being paired to an 8-speed M Steptronic gearbox.

Coming to the performance, it is capable of clocking a triple-digit speed in just 3.6 seconds. A 0-200kmph sprint will take not more than 10.5 seconds. Meanwhile, the top speed of the same stands at 307kmph.

Is it coming to India?

BMW will surely introduce it in India but again, a word from the brand itself is needed to confirm the same. Sometime before, a data sheet was released by the PR team of the brand that confirmed BMW sold around 8876 units in 2021 that too in India itself. If compared to 2020, this was around 34% up and that’s another reason why we can expect the M4 CSL to arrive soon.
