MG after the launch of MG Hector Plus is now planning to launch its full-size SUV. The MG Hector Plus was a compact SUV, however, the full-sized SUV is to be known as MG Gloster.

MG Gloster is nothing but a rebadged version of the Maxus D90. Maxus is a Chinese carmaker.

Engine and Trasmission

The MG Gloster will be offered with 3 engine options.

  • 2.0L Single Turbo Petrol Engine
  • 2.0L Single Turbo Diesel Engine
  • 2.0L Twin Turbo Diesel Engine

The petrol engine comes up with two variants, the one that produces 224PS and 360Nm of torque while the other petrol engine produces around 218PS and 350Nm of torque. Similarly, the 2.0L Diesel single turbo engine produces 163PS and 375Nm of torque while the twin-turbo diesel engine produces a massive 218PS of power and 480Nm of torque. These powerful engines are to be mated with a 8-speed AMT unit.

Dimension

MG Gloster has always been know for its length. The length of the MG Gloster is around 5005mm which is even longer than many premium SUVs such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Toyota Land Cruiser. While the width of MG Gloster is supposed to be around 1932mm and the height remains to be 1875mm. The wheelbase is 2950mm long.

Features

MG Gloster right now will be the flagship SUV for MG. And hence it will be a feature-rich car. MG India to offer a widescreen 12.3-inch infotainment system with smart connectivity, and an 8-inch fully digital cluster. Three-zone climate control AC, cruise control, front collision warning, and many more other features to be offered which has not been disclosed yet.

Rivals

MG Gloster being massively long will still be the rival to the full-sized SUVs in India. Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4, and Ford Endeavour to be the competition for the MG Gloster.

Pricing

The MG Gloster is expected to be priced between 30 – 38lakhs.

MG Gloster to arrive in India by the end of 2020. If not it will be launched in India by 2021.
